Some people need to open their eyes to what they see.

Some people need to open their eyes to what they hear.

Some people just need to open their hearts to what they feel.

The Famous Taiji Fishermen...Private Space

As you all know of the famous "Private Space", the man who likes to get all up in peoples face, but when he gets it back, he runs away. Typical....**cough, cough** wimp. Him and his famous white boots. I don't get how he can live with himself. I don't get how "they" can live with themselves. Private Space you're known/hated in the States, . I hope one day you get what you deserve. I hope you get all the pain you've made others suffer, I hope you feel the guilt of what you've done. I hope you wake up one day and realize how terrible you are and how pathetic you are. Honestly you don't deserve to live, you don't deserve to breath air. None of Taiji's fishermen deserve that right, but they still walk, talk and breath OUR air. I hope you guys are happy with yourselves, and I hope you tell your kids how you brutally murder dolphins, but you won't because you're all disgusting lowlives.

Mercury Poisoning & slaughter

Over 23 000 dolphins are slaughtered each year in Taiji, Japan. Each dolphin contains 19.2 ppm of mercury. This is a drastic 48 times higher then the 0.4 ppm. The sad thing about this is that the people of Japan don't know that they're consuming these toxic levels of mercury. The dolphin meat is labeled incorrectly in the markets, stating that it's whale meat, when really it's not. The dolphins aren't just slaughtered for their meat but also for the income. See, in Japan a dead dolphin is only a mere $700 and these are the ones used for meat. But once you have buyers for the live ones your price goes up to $154 000 per dolphins. Once the dolphins are rounded up trainers show up to chooses their dolphin, paricularly looking for female bottle nosed dolphins. The rest are left behind awaiting their turns to endure the brutal slaughter which will soon take place. The fishermen in Taiji state that these dolphins are killed in a humane matter, which they are not. Taiji fishermen pierce them with sharp spears repetitively until there's no movement left in the ocean. After the screaming is done the dolphins are then shipped off to the fisheries where they will be yet again mislabeled and sold to the citizens of Taiji. I guess it's just a sick little cycle that needs to be broken, but nobody is willing to try. We're living a dream and we refuse to wake up because of the nightmare that hides behind it. I guess only in Japan can you sit at a dolphin show, while eating what your watching.

The Showing of "The Cove" in Taiji Japan

As you know the documentary "The Cove", is being shown in Taiji. A lot of the movie theatre owners feel threatened, and offended. In no way they should feel this way. This isn't there fault, just because it's happening in their country doesn't mean we should put labels on the Japanese people. In Canada we slaughter seals, and this isn't the doing of all of Canada, it's a certain group of people. I think it's offensive that the Japanese movie theatre owners don't want to show "The Cove" in their theatres. That just shows you don't care about what's happening in your own country. You should feel proud that you're standing up for what you believe in. Don't feel ashamed. Because change is good, and it only needs to start with one person. Some movie theatres have even banned showing the documentary just because it makes their country look bad. I would much rather show the people of Japan what is happening, rather then keeping it a secret, because one day it will come out.

Killer Whales That Kill

At Sea World there has been a killer whale that has killed 3 trainers the past 20 years. The thing that's surprising about this is that they continued to train this whale for there daily show. I don't see why every body is so surprised about this incident. Sure it's tragic that 3 people have died, but come on. I think it's in the name KILLER whale. I think when an animal has a word that includes death, I don't think hanging off it's back is the best idea. The deaths of these 3 trainers just embellish the point that these animals aren't meant to remain in captivity. I recently emailed sea world about the documentary "The Cove", and they pleasantly wrote back that every thing in that documentary was "virtually a lie." As you know Sea world has been purchasing there dolphins from Taiji in the past couple of years, until the US banned any contact with this business. They probably would of continued to fuel this slaughter if it wasn't for the US taking action. Sea World honestly can't say that they think there business offers our community so much. It doesn't. I don't why it takes people so long to realize that they're only in this for the money. They don't care about their animals, because if they did they did then they wouldn't be stuck in the tanks that they are in. Dancing around on a killer whales face would just provoke their animals just about. If only Sea world offered a program that allowed animals to free and still manage to provide an education. It's Sea world's fault that they killed three people because they took a KILLER whale and stuck in a tank to perform tricks.
I don't see why people are fascinated kissing the nose of the worlds largest carnivore.

Dreams That Shatter

The water is clear, but the future is not
Beauty is profound, yet the ugly is first to get noticed
The sound of the beating of a heart is magical, but why do we pay attention the most when one stops?
The sun warms my soul, yet when it goes away the breeze rids my problems
Rainbows hold every colour, yet release no answers
Sand squishes between toes, when the tide comes in it starts all over again
Just like the prints your feet leave behind, when the tide comes, it all goes away
Maybe it's like the slaughter, once we're all dead, the tide comes and it all goes away
I don't think it should be forgotten like this, but it is
Why can't it be like the sound of a silencedheart, that's what it is
Our hearts are silenced, but nobody wants to notice the silence
I guess I'm like the rainbow
I will colour the water a deep red, but in a couple hours my colour will disappear, just like the rainbow
I guess I'm like the Sand, I do leave red in the ocean, but the tide will always take me away to a place where nobody wants to look
Hope can fly
Sorrow can run
Love can catch
But only a dolphin can dream what only will shatter

Ceteans & the IWC

For some reason the IWC isn't protecting Cetaceans or dolphins. In fact they promote the slaughter of Cetaceans. I don't get what this organization is doing to protect animals. I think they are hypocrites, they want to stop the slaughter of certain types of whales, yet they are encouraging it against others. I don't understand this. I recently emailed them, hopefully they will respond soon.

The Cove

I haven't really explained about what happens in Taji, Japan at the cove, so this is what this post will be about.
The cove is near a migratory route that dolphins have been using for years. About 10-15 boats go out with long metal poles, and hit these with hammers. This scares the dolphins since their strongest sense is sonar and hearing. The dolphins in a panic swim away from these boats, herding them towards the cove, where their deaths await them. After the dolphins are getting closer to the cove nets are put down, so the chances of escaping are slim. The dolphins are left for the night until the fishermen return. During this time period panic rises and several baby dolphins or adults brake rib cages due to the thrashing of other dolphins. Some may even die. When the sun rises this is when dolphin trainers from all over the world look for the famous female bottle-nosed dolphins to bring back and train for dolphin shows. The ones that aren't selected are then to be slaughtered. The fishermen just jab their spears into the water hitting whatever is close to them. This is a very slow and painful process, because they are stabbed and left swimming in their own blood just trying to survive. Soon that small lagoon will be full of blood, no blue will remain. After the water is silent, a few divers screen the bottom of that small body of water looking for any alive or dead dolphins. Soon the boats will be out again herding in the next load of dolphins to slaughter. The next ones to enter their death beds. The silence of the water concludes a day of good work performed by the fishermen.

Marine Land - what they had to say!

As you know I've emailed Marine Land, and after several days they finally responded. Their response did tick me off quite a bit, just the way they tried to justify themselves, but in my opinion they failed in doing so. I won't print out my whole email, because it will take to much time and you can't paste anything on so I will give you parts of what I wrote. The whole point of my email was that these animals don't belong in captivity, because dolphins in particular travel miles upon miles every day. In no way can an aquarium satisfy their needs. I clearly stated why they don't belong in these tanks, and this is how Marine Land responded: "all of our marine mammal pools meet or exceed the standard sizes set out by the U.S Marine Mammal Protection Act". Why would I care what the expectations are? Is that suppose to make me like you, or something. Cause I don't. I don't care what the expectations are, it doesn't matter. The tanks are WAY to small considering these animals history of travelling miles each day. Are you really that ignorant that you don't realize what you're doing to these animals. I know that it's all about the shows, money and publicity. You don't care about any environmental issues, because places like you are fueling the death of these animals. They stated "Please be assured that MarineLand is committed to the unparalleled care of all of our animals. Marine Land's staff members consider the animals at our park to be family members." This statement scared me the most reading through the email. Family? Is that suppose to be some kind of sick joke? I know my family doesn't trap me in a tank starving me to perform tricks. I don't know if I'm the only one here, but do your families starve you? Maybe MarineLand should look up the definition of family, because what they think what means, they're totally wrong. I wish they would show how they teat their animals behind closed doors. No animals performs tricks on it's on will. Not one. I know I've said this before, but I'll say it again. Dolphins have committed suicide due to MarineLand's recklessness. They get stomach ulcers due to the high stress levels. MarineLand also stated that it's a learning experience, and it gives people a touch of natures side. That it allows them to interact and see things that they probably wouldn't see any where else. I'm pretty sure that there are better alternatives then making hundreds of animals suffer due to society wanting some entertainment every once in a while. Marine Land said " You Activists seem to always point out the drawbacks." HELLO! Maybe if you didn't have so many draw back then maybe we wouldn't point them out. Is the only good thing you have to offer is "education", because that's all you seemed to point out in your response. When I emailed them back for the second time ( still haven't got a response yet ) I asked how they train their dolphins, I bet you they will say something to the effect of having experienced trainings. That's the only thing they can say, since they know that they do starve their animals. Remember " Everybody Love Marine Land!" Obviously they haven't met a lot of people.

The International Whaling Commission ( IWC )

The IWC claims that they protect all whales, but there is a certian group that is being left out. The dolphins. They are not included in this organization, so there is a whole group of whales that aren't under protection. Dolphins are whales, size doesn't matter. They are protecting a whole bunch of other whales, but what's happening to the 23 000 that are being slaughtered in Taiji? Is this problem to big for this organization to handle? What's going to happen to these animals, if they will never be under protection? I recently emailed the IWC regarding my concerns, I have yet to receive a response. I am hoping I will get an email soon. I have also emailed Marine Land. I am not expecting them to email me back. They probably don't want to answer what I have written because it's against their business, but isn't the email address for you comments and questions? I guess I'll just have to wait for the responses. I hope I get them soon.

Any way back to the focus of this post, the IWC.
In my opinion I think that it's absolutely ridiculous that dolphins aren't involved in this organization, because now it's our responsibility to make a change. Not saying I don't want to, I'm totally all for it. But if this organization has to take action, I think that a lot of things would be accomplished faster. They have a huge organization, and we're only a few people wanting to make a change. Obviously they will have a bigger impact on the slaughtering in Taiji. A huge amount of WHALES aren't being protected, and it's the IWC's job to protect them. Don't do the job if you can't do all of it. These dolphins screams are going unheard. I think it's time that you start listening.

Why Dolphin Captivity is Wrong - Please don't support places like Marine Land.

People love to watch the dolphin splashing through the tanks that they are held in. The sight of them jumping through hoops of fire and swimming with their trainers, just brings a feeling of warmth crashing down on you. A smile spread across the dolphins face, almost as if it has fun preforming in front of hundreds of people every day, the sound waves of screaming ringing through their ears every day. The truth is , that this is a living hell for a dolphin. What people don't understand is that a dolphins sense of hearing is its' strongest attribute, and when you put a dolphin in a concrete case, you're taking that away from them. It's like a human being trapped in a room full of mirrors their whole life. It eventually gets to your head. You're trapped, defenseless. Your future only holds one thing, and that is nothing. I am fighting for more then one cause, and that is what me and my friend are trying to do (Alex B.'s blog : http://www.freejapandolphins.blogspot.com/). I believe no animal is suppose to be in captivity. Dolphins travel miles upon miles every day, and being trapped in a small aquarium, is ruining their natural ways of migration. How would you like it if you were trapped in a small room without a phone or any sort of communication to the outside world, while there's a constant hum. That's what these animals are dealing with. It's time to stop, before we yet again instinct another one of natures beauties. Dolphins aren't meant to be watched through glass. They're meant to be watched sitting down on the shoreline, watching them jumping into the sunset, without a care in the world. Not starving doing tricks in front of an ignorant audience. Those places like Sea World and Marine Land, are contributing to the problem in Taiji, Japan. The only way we can stop it is if we don't visit these aquariums. Don't be a part of the slaughtering, say no to these places. Another thing I want to bring up, are these swim with the dolphins programs. A lot of people don't understand what's wrong with these, so I'll explain it to you in the simplest form. At these programs dolphins are put in shallow water, allowing people to interact with them, by petting and grabbing the dolphin. This is very stressful for dolphins. Constantly being touched while being held in captivity, when they could be swimming in the fresh ocean water. Think about people holding onto a dolphins fin, while the dolphin itself has no choice but to pull you around. It's not right. Please have some compassion and not support these hell holes. Swimming with the dolphins that look like they have smiles plastered on their faces, is one of natures biggest deceptions. Oh and if anybody who works at Marine Land, your motto is incorrect "Everybody love Marine Land, looks like you haven't met me because I absolutely hate Marine Land.

Something really really has to change, before it's to late.

To see thrashing bodies desperately trying to escape of a horror that is constantly chasing after them. But the sad thing is that there will never ever be an escape, unless we step in. These dolphins don't have a mouth that can talk, but we do. So why don't we use it to our advantage and make a change. These animals aren't capable of speaking, but you know what's truly not fair. Is that they can't speak or defend themselves, but they are the ones who are being dealt the excruciating pain. This doesn't seem fair to me. It doesn't seem fair to anything. what I found really interesting was that there was a sign stating " animal conservatory ", just before the barb wire gated fence. I don't think the definition of an animal conservatory is slaughtering and brutally killing animals...I thought they were there to be protected, not murdered. It seems that Japan trys to create the image that they are against whaling, and killing dolphins. Statues of dolphins and whales are sparingly placed everywhere throughout the small city of Taiji. I'm not trying to blame all citizens of Japan. I know that there's only a small group of people contributing to this issue, and I know that nobody in Japan knows about this. So I don't blame you. So to clear up what I'm saying, I blame the fisheries and the Japan government for keeping this HUGE issue a problem. They're totally accountable to what's happening, and if they are the leaders, then I am very scared for you Japan. There's a serious problem that isn't be taken care of, and I'm afraid of what will happen in your future if this can't be fixed. The Japanese fishermen can get all up in your face, but one day the truth will be revealed, and when that day comes I hope you are humiliated, for all that you have done. I hope you feel hell for the rest of your lives. Another thing that was quite interesting was when you are watching these "dolphin shows" you can be eating dolphin at the same time. That's interesting...It's like watching a cat show while eating cat. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? We have to save what can't save itself. It's a temporary problem, that really needs a permanent solution.

One Perspective

I swim carelessly through the cold but crisp ocean water
Looking through the clear water staring at what's ahead of me
And there's nothing there
This is very comforting, in a way
Not to have fear of what's ahead of you, to welcome your future
But what I was welcoming, I knew after
I could never ever take it back
As the rush of water flows by my sleek body
I jump out of the water, gathering air from the clearing sky
Though the sun was shining, and the birds chirping
I felt a sudden rush of death and blackness
Something didn't feel right
I knew I should of turned back and went the other way
But my instincts told me to keep going
I guess the saying "curiosity killed the cat " is true
A thundering boom intruded my ears
Repeating itself over and over and over
I swam
Trying to escape the horrifying sound
I tried one way then it still was to loud
I went another way, but it still got louder
Soon I found myself amongst a bunch of other panicking dolphins
I was scared
I can't put my mind to what that feeling felt like
Almost as if it was like being inside a horror movie
That you knew that the ending wouldn't be a good one
So I tried to escape from the nightmare
But I failed
I felt like I was drowning in my tears........
Finally the banging stopped, but I tried to swim away
But I couldn't
There was a barrier blocking my escape
Almost as if this was planned
It was getting very crowded, and I was getting very scared
Soon a different mood set
death
Sharp pointed stick were continuously jabbed into the water
Into the fearful dolphins
There lives were being ripped away from their grasp
And they couldn't reach out for anyone
Blood filled that small body of water
That's all I was surrounded by
An empty pool of blood
I felt a piercing pain in my back, I tried to swim away
But then I smelt my blood, my blood
I tried to look ahead of me, to see the brilliant blue of the ocean
But all I saw was the vibrant red of the ocean
I don't want to die, I really don't
Somebody, anybody
Please just help me.

Marine Land

As you sit innocently watching the playful dolphins splashing about in the pool. Looking happier then ever, as they jump so high you think they can touch the sky. How playful and joyful they look swimming beside their trainers, almost as if it's a bonding friends ship. The only thing you don't know, is that it's not all perfect. That smile that makes you all warm inside, isn't real. The affection between the trainer and the dolphin, is just what is made up of starvation. How do you get a dolphin to do those jumps through rings. Do you think they do it as an instinct? Common sense. How would you like it be trapped in an aquarium, when your used too travelling miles a day though the fresh ocean water? It's disgusting. You know what's even more disgusting. Trainers go to Taiji, Japan and pick the dolphin they want to train, knowing that the rest will be brutally slaughtered. "Everyone loves Marine Land," whatever. I absolutely hate Marine Land. I haven't even been there and I still hate it. No way am I going to support a place where they put animals in captivity. From the documentary "The Cove", O'berry stated "You have to understand dolphins are not automatic air breathers like we are. Every breath for them is a conscious effort. She looked me right in the eye, took a deep breath, held it - and she didn't take another." Dolphins have the intelligence to commit suicide. He is right, dolphins breathing is not instinctual, and when you get a story about a dolphin committing suicide. What message does that give out? These animals use their voice and hearing to communicate with others, and when you're stuck in a tank with a roaring crowd of cheering fans, it messes with your head. Sometimes so bad that they kill themselves. Wow, that just says that the stress level is so intense that the only alternative option is to die. I feel helpless. I can't do anything about it. I guess I'm like a lot of other people, they don't know what to do. I have no idea what I can do to help. I so badly want to help, but I can't. As Ric O'Berry said "if we can't fix this, we won't be able to fix anything." We have to focus on the problems that may seem small, until we can move on. If we can't help what can't speak, then I don't want to help what can.

The Cove

Thousands upon thousands of dolphins are killed each year in Taiji, Japan. Though the solution seems very simple and clear, nothing is being done. The murdering of thousands of helpless souls takes place in Japan, in the remote town of Taiji every single year. The sad thing is that nobody knows about this, except for a small group of people and the government. This is a huge secret for such a little town. And it has to be exposed soon, before we say goodbye to yet another creature we have killed. The thing that opened my eyes to such a terrible travesty was the documentary "The Cove." I cannot thank you enough for making this movie and sharing with the world whats going on. If it weren't for these activists I don't think I would of ever heard about this. That's what's really sad to me. I had NO idea about this issue, until a month ago. I haven't forgot about it since. In the documentary it showed the slaughter of dolphins. It showed the spears piercing skin of trapped dolphins, the ringing screams of helpless souls, and the ending of thousands of lives. You know what really pissed me off about this? It was the Japanese fishermen, they were probably one of the most ignorant people I have ever seen. I wanted to physically punch them in the face. They got all up in the faces of the activists, just because they didn't want them to film. Hmmm, that seems a bit fishy.....Why wouldn't you want somebody filming your beautiful town? Why not film the beautiful blood that fills the water, and the beautiful screams of pain, and the beautiful smell of death? Huh, doesn't seem so beautiful does it? The activists asked citizens about this, and NOT one knew what was going on. That's a great government, one that lies. I would just love to live their. I don't understand how you can kill something we such ease, no remorse or pain. What was really interesting was that they had dolphin and whale statues everywhere. Claiming they love dolphins and whales. One of the activists stated that "it was like walking into a Stephen King movie", and you know what he was wrong. It's even worse. A Stephen King movie has a purpose, it was made that way, it was directed, meant to happen. This hell was not meant to happen, it doesn't have a place, it doesn't have anything. These people are garbage in my eyes. They are worthless, meaningless, just a waste of skin. I don't care if it's the money you need to make. It doesn't matter. You're just a bunch of worthless humans, that have no life. The day will soon come when you get what you deserve, and when that day does come I hope it kills. I hope it kills like the spears you willing jabbed into dolphins. I hope it never ever stops hurting.
